Troop Tiers

Troop tiers in Command An Army are matchup-aware. Cavalry sits at the top of community talk and still dies to a Spearman lane. Scout Rider has a dedicated counter video, which is the opposite of “hidden OP forever.” This page is the unit argument behind the tier list hub.

S — Cavalry

Horses are the closer. Official art puts the commander on a horse for a reason, and player comments say Cavalry is generally the strongest troop. Use it to hit a flipped wall or to punish a blob. Do not use it as your entire front on a defense map. Spearmen are the tax. If you cannot wait for the tax to miss, you will rank Cavalry as “overrated” and be wrong.

Buy Cavalry after you can field a wall. Details: Cavalry.

A — Shieldman

The wall. Blue-and-yellow or red shield rows in the official thumbnails are this job. Shieldman is required for the Castle circle and for any straight wall that wants to live on a point. If you skip shields because they look slow, you will watch horses walk through your captures. First purchase for most new accounts after codes.

A — Spearman

Anti-horse. The circle method names Spearman next to Shieldman and Spartan. If Cavalry is S, Spearman is the reason S is not a win button. Place them on the approach, not in a reverse rank behind your commander. If horses keep landing in your backline, you do not have a Spearman problem, you have a facing problem — formations.

A — Spartan

Elite infantry for the ring. Not a substitute for shields. Not a substitute for spears. Unlock path: how to get Spartans. If you have Spartans and still lose, you are using them as solo heroes. Put them in the circle.

B — Scout Rider

A disruptor with a public counter. The embedded video exists because people were tired of eating it, not because it is unanswerable. Treat Scout Rider as a problem you can prepare for: do not leave a dangling backline, do not chase it off the point, and do not rebuild your whole roster around one annoying unit. If you main Scout Rider, expect prepared enemies after week one.

B — Samurai

A real identity. There is a Spartans versus Samurais clip for a reason. Samurai is a spin/summon personality, not a wall. Field it as elite infantry flavor once the circle exists. Ranking it S because the armor looks good is how inventory fills with units you never form.

C — Mystery summons and duplicates

If you cannot name the job, it is C. Duplicates of a unit you already cannot micro are C. Units you bought because a thumbnail used a red arrow are C until proven otherwise. Delete toward the cap. The +50 Inventory Space pass is not a tier.

Gems versus tiers

Tiers assume you can field the unit. A locked Spartan is not A-tier for you today. Follow the gem planner. Redeem codes before you judge the list as “pay to win.” The launch gem pile is large enough to start an A-tier wall plus a closer if you do not spin first.

After a patch

If horses get nerfed, Spearman does not become useless; the tax just changes. If shields get nerfed, Castle circle still wants a wall — maybe a different named shield. Come back through the updates hub. Do not rebuild from a single creator’s panic thumbnail.

Place these ranks using compositions. Ranking without placing is just a comment section.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for codes, troops, and match setups.

Is Cavalry always S tier?

It is the launch closer. Spears answer it. Placement is on formations.

How do I counter Scout Rider?

Do not chase off the point and protect the backline. The video on this page is that matchup.

Why are Shieldmen only A if they win games?

They are the wall, not the swing unit. Games still need a closer. They remain a first buy.

Where do Samurai sit?

B as an identity summon. Unlock them after the circle core. See summons.
