Command An Army Guides

From first join to Castle circle setups and defense-biased match wins.

Guides Hub

Command An Army is a tactical Roblox battleground, not a tycoon idle. You recruit a roster, order formations, and pick attack or defend in team-versus-team fights. The public launch on September 5, 2026 dumped thousands of new commanders into maps that currently lean defense, with Cavalry punching harder than most infantry if you leave a flank open.

This hub is the reading order. If you only open one page after codes, open getting started. If you already know the HUD, skip to how to win and formations.

Start here

  • Getting started — join, tutorial, first recruit, first victory badge.
  • How to play — the loop: recruit, form up, capture, fight.
  • Controls — camera, orders, the E attack/defend prompts, mobile sticks.
  • How to win — why defense is favored, how to hold a line, when to push.
  • Formations — Castle circle method with Spartan, Shieldman, Spearman.
  • How to get Spartans — summons, spins, and why Skip Summon Spin exists.
  • Maps and Castle — courtyards versus open fields, capture points, and the defense bias.
  • Optional Robux sits on game passes, not in this reading order.

Pair these with the troop tier list so your gems match the guide you picked.

What new players actually get stuck on

The tutorial is long. Players joked it felt like “2 km.” That is not a joke you should skip blindly. The HUD teaches attack versus defend, troop orders, and the codes button on the right. If you skip too hard, you will hit E on the wrong order and feed a capture.

The second stuck point is spending. Launch codes dump 1,400 gems if all four still work. People roll random summons, fill a 30-troop cap with mixed junk, then lose to a Cavalry charge. Read players before you buy. Cavalry is the community closer. Shield infantry holds. Spearmen punish horses if you place them instead of chasing with swords.

The third stuck point is map bias. Comments on the official clips say most maps are defense biased. If you always queue attack because it sounds heroic, you are playing uphill. Maps and Castle, how to win, and the match checklist exist for that.

How a match is supposed to feel

You load in with a roster you already own. You form the line. You choose attack or defend. You capture or hold points. You issue formation orders rather than running around as a lone hero. The commander on the horse in the official thumbnails is the fantasy; the work is keeping Shieldmen facing the charge and Cavalry hitting a collapsed side.

Server size is 12. That is small enough that one player who knows the Castle circle can swing a round, and small enough that one AFK commander hurts. Play with people on Discord if public randoms refuse to hold.

Guides versus other hubs

Guides teach actions. Players teach units. Tier list ranks those units. Updates tell you when a rank is lying because a patch landed. Tools turn the same advice into checklists. If a guide and the tier list disagree after a patch, trust the newest balance notes.

Video policy on this wiki

Each guide page embeds at most one real YouTube video, mid-article. We do not invent IDs. Gameplay look on the home page uses a different video from the getting-started embed so you are not watching the same clip twice.

After the first win

The New Recruit badge is free for joining. First Victory is a real match win. Warlord is 1,000 wins and sat at zero awards at launch, which tells you how steep the climb is. Use compositions once you are past the “what does E do” stage. Then come back here when a new troop or map drops and a fresh how-to is required. The live snapshot tracks the September 7 universe push so this hub does not freeze on launch-day visit counts.

On the controls page, including mobile sticks and the E attack/defend prompts.
