Getting Started in Command An Army
First-hour path from the Roblox join screen to a funded roster and a real victory.
Command An Army is a September 2026 Roblox launch from the Fight, Fight, Fight! group. You command troops in team-versus-team battles, not a single avatar brawler. The first hour decides whether you understand attack versus defend or whether you donate captures to the other color.
This guide is the first-hour path. Play the game here: Command An Army on Roblox. Then keep this page open for the order of operations.
Minute zero: join the right game
Search results are noisy. You want Command An Army, place ID 101770480176177, group Fight, Fight, Fight!. It is free to play. Maturity is mild. Servers hold 12 players. If you land in Command Authority, Control An Ancient Army, or Command Your Clone Army, you are in the wrong experience.
Favorite the game and join the group if you want shout updates. The community Discord is discord.gg/commandrblx, also collected on official links.
The tutorial is long on purpose
Players roasted the tutorial length. Finish it anyway. It teaches:
- How to move the commander and camera.
- How troop orders differ from running in yourself.
- The attack and defend choice (the E prompts on official art).
- Where utility buttons sit — including codes on the right.
If you skip until you are lost, come back to controls instead of guessing in a live round.
First redeem, then first buy
Do not spend Robux first. Open the codes button and claim the live list on the codes hub. At launch that is RELEASE, WAR, BUGFIX, and LEBALANCE for up to 1,400 gems. Step-by-step lives on how to redeem.
Spend those gems on a core, not a museum:
- Shield infantry so you have a wall.
- Cavalry if you can afford the closer everyone is talking about.
- Spartan and Spearman if you plan to live on Castle.
The gem planner and troop tier list exist so you do not roll a Scout Rider you cannot counter-play. Optional passes are Skip Summon Spin and +50 Inventory Space. Buy them later.
Your first match plan
Public servers are 12 players. You will see mixed skill. Before the round starts:
- Form a line. Do not trickle units in one by one.
- Prefer defend on maps people call defense-biased, which is most of them right now.
- Capture or hold the point the UI is actually scoring, not a random hill that looks cinematic.
- Issue a formation order. If you do not know one, read formations and use the Castle circle: Spartan, Shieldman, Spearman.
- Only chase with Cavalry after the wall is set. A horse charge into spears is how you fund the other team’s highlight clip.
The match checklist is the same list in checkbox form.
Badges you will see immediately
- New Recruit — join for the first time. Almost everyone gets it.
- First Victory — win a match. This is your real onboarding exam.
- Warlord — win 1,000 matches. Nobody had it at launch. Ignore it for now.
If you cannot convert New Recruit into First Victory, you are either attacking into a stacked defense or your roster has no wall. Fix the roster before you blame lag, even though launch lag was real (that is why BUGFIX exists).
Inventory and summons
You will hit a troop cap. Community comments put a practical army size around 30 on some modes; do not assume you can field a 300-troop stress test in a live ranked-feeling match. Those 300-troop clips were pre-release tests. Keep inventory clean. Delete summons you will never field. If the cap is the only blocker, the +50 Inventory Space pass is the honest payoff.
Summons and Spartans have their own page: how to get Spartans. Skip Summon Spin is for people who are already rolling, not for your first ten minutes.
Social and scripts
Play with friends if you can. Twelve-player fights punish silent pubs. Discord is the LFG board. Scripts are not part of onboarding. If a YouTube thumbnail promises auto kill on day two of the game, read script safety and then go back to practicing defend.
First-hour checklist
- Joined the correct Roblox place.
- Finished enough tutorial to see the right-side HUD.
- Redeemed live codes.
- Bought a wall + a closer, not twelve randoms.
- Played defend at least once.
- Read how to play if the loop still feels like a brawler.
- Bookmarked how to win for the second session.
You are started when gems are spent on purpose and you have either a win or a clear reason you lost (no wall, wrong side, no formation). Everything after that is roster knowledge on players.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, troops, and match setups.
Is Command An Army free?
Yes. It is free to play on Roblox. Game passes are optional. Launch codes fund a lot of the first roster.
Should I attack or defend first?
Defend. Most maps currently favor the defending side. See how to win.
What should I buy with code gems?
A shield wall and Cavalry if you can, then Castle infantry. Use the gem planner.
Why is the tutorial so long?
It teaches orders and the attack/defend choice. If you skipped it, read controls.
