How to Get Spartans in Command An Army
Unlock the elite infantry the Castle circle actually wants, without wasting every launch gem.
Spartans are the elite infantry people chase after they learn the Castle circle method. The shopping list is Spartan, Shieldman, and Spearman. Shieldmen and Spearmen are easier to understand as roles. Spartans are the piece players record unlock videos about — including the Italian unlock clip embedded on this page.
This is a how-to-get page, not a promise that a hidden NPC hands you a free Spartan. Command An Army uses gems, collecting, upgrades, and a summon spin economy. There is a game pass named Skip Summon Spin. That pass only exists if spinning is part of how rare troops arrive.
What a Spartan is for
In the circle, Shieldman is the wall and Spearman is the anti-horse. Spartan is the elite body that keeps the ring from being two props around an empty middle. If you skip Spartans and only buy shields, Cavalry that survives the spears still cracks you. If you skip shields and only buy Spartans, you paid premium HP for a wall job. Buy roles in order: wall, anti-horse, elite, closer. That order is also on the gem planner.
Spartans versus Samurais is already a community matchup — there is a whole clip for it. That means both are real troop identities, not flavor text. See summons for how those identities sit next to Cavalry.
Path 1: gems on purpose
- Redeem working codes. RELEASE and WAR are 500 gems each at launch.
- Do not dump the stack into anonymous spins until you own a wall.
- Open the troop shop / collect UI and look for Spartan as a direct recruit if it is listed at your progression.
- If Spartan is behind a spin, budget a slice of gems for spins after Shieldman and Spearman exist.
- Stop when you can field the circle. Extra Spartans that you cannot place in a formation are inventory noise.
If the shop is still locked, you are not done with the tutorial or with a level gate. Finish getting started before you assume the unit is paywalled.
Path 2: summon spins
The Skip Summon Spin pass is the tell. Spins have an animation, and someone will always try to skip it. Use spins when:
- The shop does not sell Spartan outright.
- You already have a defendable wall.
- You can stand to lose gems on a Samurai or a duplicate.
Do not buy Skip Summon Spin until you are actually spinning. The pass does not increase Spartan odds; it removes the wait. Inventory fills fast, which is why +50 Inventory Space is the other launch pass. Full buyer’s notes: game passes. Clean junk summons so a real Spartan has a slot.
Path 3: play, then upgrade
The official description says collect and upgrade troops. A proto-Spartan or infantry elite may need upgrades before it plays like the unit in unlock videos. Upgrade the unit you will field in the circle, not every duplicate. Upgrades cost the same gems you could have spent on a missing Spearman. Missing spears is how Cavalry still wins even after you “got Spartans.”
What not to do
- Do not trust codes from other army games. Only the list on the codes hub pays Command An Army gems.
- Do not run a script that claims “auto Spartan.” Read script safety. Account risk is not an unlock method.
- Do not spend the entire 1,400 gem launch pile on spins before you can defend. First Victory comes from a wall, not from a lucky elite standing alone.
- Do not insert Spartans into a blob and call it a circle. Place them with Shieldmen and Spearmen as in formations.
After you unlock one
Field it on Castle defend. If it feels weak, you are using it as a lone hero. If it feels strong, duplicate only until the ring is stable, then move gems to Cavalry for the reserve closer. The troop tier list will move after balance patches — LEBALANCE already signaled that numbers are not frozen.
Spartans are a means to a formation. Once you have them, go win boring defend rounds until First Victory is behind you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, troops, and match setups.
Can I unlock Spartans with codes?
Codes give gems, not a troop by name. Spend those gems on the shop or summons after you redeem on the codes hub.
Does Skip Summon Spin give more Spartans?
No. It skips the spin animation. Odds are unchanged. Buy it only if you already spin a lot.
Are Spartans required?
They are required for the named Castle circle. You can still defend with a basic shield-and-spear wall.
Spartans or Cavalry first?
Wall and spears first, then Spartan for the circle, Cavalry as closer. The gem planner uses that order.
